Mize, Ferguson Participate in Women at Work Day

Jean Mize and Melissa Ferguson, of Sherman Construction, participated at R.D. Anderson Applied Technology Center's “Women at Work” program. The program is aimed at showing about 400 local high school girls the advantages of nontraditional fields such as construction, engineering and mechanics.

"We try to provide real-life examples to the participants and show them how women can succeed in some of the non-traditional jobs," commented Mize. Taking ownership of one's duties, hard work and persistence were some of the topics discussed during the day's events. "We are extremely proud of Jean's and Melissa's participation in such programs and their eagerness to give back to the community," commented Andy Sherman, Vice President of Sherman Construction. "Sherman has always been focused on providing opportunities to women and minorities throughout our organization and through our vendor partners and it is always exciting to see new leaders develop, " Andy Sherman continued.
